Executing large-scale project shipments requires precision, expertise, and adaptability—qualities that Danton Logistics demonstrated in their latest transport operation from Shanghai to Kolkata. The shipment consisted of 16 pieces, totaling 2,526 CBM and 437 tons, including three exceptionally heavy units, each weighing 95,000 kg.
Overcoming Heavy-Lift Challenges
For most heavy cargo, port cranes are the standard lifting solution. However, the maximum load capacity of the dock cranes at the port was only 40 tons—making it impossible to lift the 95-ton cargo, even using tandem lifting. This posed a significant challenge that required an innovative and safe alternative lifting strategy.
A Thoughtful and Safe Lifting Strategy
During an on-site inspection, the Danton Logistics team identified another major issue—incorrectly designated lifting points on the cargo. Using a single floating crane under these conditions would have created an uneven weight distribution, posing a serious safety risk.
To ensure a secure and efficient loading process, the team implemented a floating crane combined with lifting beams, allowing for precise weight distribution and safe cargo handling. While this solution incurred additional costs, safety and operational integrity remained the top priority.
