Angola, Israel and Algeria lead Valenciaport’s traffic increases in February


The Valenciaport Statistical Bulletin shows that container traffic with Angola grew by +2,200.88% in tonnes in the January-February period, while with Israel it grew by +44.41% and with Algeria by +18.71%. China continues to be Valenciaport’s main trading partner with 129,724 TEUs exchanged in this same period with Asian ports (+36.44%) and 1,410,867 tonnes (+29.43%).


Likewise, the Valenciaport terminals confirm that the export sector continues to grow. The Valencian terminals maintain the positive sign this year and the increases in cargo traffic (full containers) leaving Valenciaport with destination to other countries in the world increase by +5.39%. Specifically, according to the Valenciaport Statistical Bulletin for February, full TEU (6.1 metre long containers) traffic increased by +9.88% that month, with unloadings representing +29.93% and transits +4.15% in the cumulative total for the months of January and February.

Overall and in the first two months of the year, the companies working with Valenciaport handled 12.51 million tonnes through its terminals (+1.35%). In terms of containers, traffic has registered 863,894 TEUs (twenty-foot containers), i.e. a growth of +10.34%.


In general, an analysis of the figures in the Bulletin shows growth in UTI (intermodal transport units) traffic +0.44% and TEU transport by rail also grew by +4.53%, while passenger (-5.86%) and vehicle traffic (-34.35%) decreased.

By sectors, Valenciaport shows growth in the first two months of the year in non-metallic minerals (28.08%), chemical products (+12.17%), construction materials (+9.06%) and agri-foodstuffs (+2.35%).
